Loyal son Allan Dickinson has arranged Mum’s Big Birthday Bash for the third year running – and this one promises to be the best yet.
The fundraising event is in memory of his much loved and missed mum Alana who lost her 17 year battle with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in 2011.
Warehouse operative Allan, 34, of Southdrift Way had organised a party for her 60th birthday but it had to be cancelled because of her failing health.
After his mum died, he decided to throw a bash on her birthday each year to celebrate her life and raise funds for the COPD unit at the Luton & Dunstable Hospital.
So far he’s donated £3,600 and he hopes the amount this year will surpass all expectations.
“We’ve got more than 120 sponsors and no expenses so for the first time all the money raised will go directly to the unit,” he explained. “It’s the only fundraising event they have.”
> The Bash is at Stopsley Working Men’s Club at 7pm on Friday, November 21. Visit Mum’s Big Birthday Bash Facebook page or www.justgiving.com/mumsbigbirthdaybash/
