Two Luton businessmen have teamed up to help eliminate child labour in Bangladesh.

Dent master Muhammed Muhit Miah (40) and his friend, restaurateur Tofazzul ‘Toff’ Miah, 41, have formed a charity, Young Minds Organisation Trust, to tackle the problem that affects more than three million youngsters in the land of their birth.

They aim to raise both awareness and funds to empower young people through education, vocational training and life skills.

Their first fundraising event is a gala dinner on Sunday, January 26 at Venue Central in Leagrave Road, Luton.

Guest speaker is charismatic Bangladeshi presenter Ajmol Masroor. Attention will focus on child labour via a poignant mini drama during the three course meal.

Father-of-five Muhammed came back from a holiday in Bangladesh determined to do something about the scandal.

He said: “No child should have to beg, nor have to work to feed the family. We can all do something to help.”

> Tickets for the charity event, which starts at 6.30pm, cost £20. For more information call 07973 337269 or 07961 432517.
