The video, posted by Mark Baldwin to the Hatters Talk group on Facebook, shows rubbish left in Beech Path which runs along the side of the stadium.

Mark recorded the footage after Saturday’s game against Exeter City. He said: “It is disgusting, something has to be done. It is bad that people don’t seem to care, there is always rubbish there, every game it’s the same and someone needs to take action.”

One fan commented: “I am always embarrassed when I hear the away supporters chant that Luton is a shit hole. I find it hard to believe people have no shame and this situation is not going to change anytime soon. LBC must take appropriate action, but I won’t hold my breath.”

A spokesman for Luton Council said: “The council is disappointed that anyone should deliberately create mess in public areas of the town.

“We have reported this incident to out street cleansing team and will monitor the area in the future. Anyone caught fly tipping in this way will be liable to prosecution.

“If they come across instances of fly tipping, or see someone in the act of doing so, we encourage all residents to report this antisocial offence to us using out environmental reporting tool at www.luton.gov.uk/myaccount.”
