VIDEO: Storm damage in Luton

Waiting for Video...

Strong winds and heavy rain battered Luton over the weekend and a number of trees came down in the storm.

Deputy editor Steve Sims filmed the video above of a large tree in Wardown Park which fell down sometime on Saturday morning.

Council workers have already started the process of cutting up the tree and removing it.

A Luton Borough Council spokesman said: “There is also an adjacent tree that will need to be removed as it is a potential hazard. We won’t know the cost until after the job is complete and would only replant if funding was identified.”

A tree also came down in Whitehill Avenue on Friday evening, causing traffic to grind to a halt.

Reader Ben Burnell sent in pictures of storm damage in Lewsey, including fences that had been blown down.
