Probe launched after prisoner found hanging in cell

A probe has been launched after a prisoner was found hanging in his cell in a Leeds jail, the Ministry of Justice said.

Craig Moor, 39, was found suspended by a ligature in his cell at HMP Leeds by staff after his cellmate raised the alarm in the early hours of Sunday morning.

A prison service spokesperson said: "Staff attempted CPR and an ambulance was called but Mr Moor was pronounced dead at 5.07am by paramedics."

The Prisons and Probation Ombudsman will now carry out an investigation into his death.

Moor was sentenced to six and half years in prison for robbery but had only served three weeks, the Ministry of Justice said.
