A case of points dropped

Barton surrender two-goal half time lead

Both managers felt that it was a case of two points dropped as

Barton Rovers drew 2-2 at Rothwell Town in the Zamaretto Southern League Division One Midlands.

An Adam Sturgess own goal and a Lee Wilson cracker put Barton

2-0 to the good at Cecil Street but strikes from Brett Darby and Tom Mills earned a share of the points for the Bones.

Rovers' boss Gary Fitzgerald said: "In the week I would've taken a 2-2 draw, but being two-up at half time, we should've won it.

"I'm reasonably satisfied with a point, but the fact is we need to get some points on the board.

"We're a bit too Jekyll and Hyde, but we showed that we can play and it's a good sign that we're disappointed not to have come away with the points."

Despite coming from two goals down, Bones' boss Rob Dunion's thoughts echoed those of his counterpart.

He said: "That's two points thrown away. We should have won it. The conditions were against us in the first half and they went in front.

"But we scored two in the first 10 minutes of the second half and should have gone on to score more."

Jon Stevenson hit the bar for the home side midway through the first half before Sturgess's own goal gave the visitors the lead just before the half hour.

Wilson's 30-yard effort made it 2-0 before the interval and a

valuable victory appeared to be on the cards for Barton.

Darby beat Aaron Fletcher to halve the gap on the hour and two minutes later Mills levelled the scores. Fletcher made some decent saves to keep Barton in the contest as both sides had to settle for a point.

This weekend Barton are on the road to Suffolk to face AFC Sudbury.
