An excellent team performance ensured Luton Town & Indians claimed a 23-run win over Langleybury in the Hertfordshire Cricket League Championship.

Sachin Wagh top scored with 41 and Adnam Bashir hit 30 as Luton posted 202 all out, with seven other players also reaching double figures.

That proved to be enough as Mohammad Ahmadzai claimed four for 42, Wagh three for 33 and Hasan Al Mahmud two for 16 as Langleybury were bowled out for 179.

Luton IIs were also winners in their match with Baldocck, who were restricted to a modest 125 all out as Dynesh Patel took three wickets. Indians were made to work for their win before getting home at 126 for six, with Zainal Abadeen (35) and Sajad Homyoon (23) the main run scorers.

On Sunday, Indians suffered a 36-run defeat to Dunstable in the Bedfordshire County League.

Luton will have fancied their chances after restricting Dunstable to 165 all out thanks to Mohammad Ahmadzai taking four for 34 and Gurpreet Singh bagging two for 19. But the Indians batsmen weren’t up to the task, as despite efforts from Akash Shah (30) and Sachin Wagh (27) they were rolled over for 129.

In division two, Luton IIs hammered Caldecote by 10 wickets.

Derang Shah took three for six, Rashid Afridi three for 12 and Zahid Khan three for 21 as Caldecote were skittled for just 58, and Jeremy Page then hit a quickfire 43 not out to see his team to 62 without loss.

In division three, Indians IIIs went down by 27 runs to Harrold.

Yaskin Khan claimed three for 30, Mohammed Qamar two for 16 and Umar Mahmood two for 19 as Harrold were bowled out for 180.

Dinesh Patel was then left stranded on 49 not out as Luton were dismissed for 153 in reply. Tegbir Singh hit 38 and Jagminder Singh 32, but the lower order had no answer to Graig Fowler (5-22).

Luton Town & Indians IVs produced an excellent bowling display to see off Ickwell by just 13 runs.

Indians posted 162 all out, mainly thanks to 32 from Tuttab Akram and 30 from Shahzad Awan, and although Ickwell will have felt they were in with a chance, they were bowled out for 149.

Rahul Patel led the way with the ball taking five for 38 while Awan claimed two for 21 and Rickesh Patel two for 27.
