Craddock strike sets up victory

Middlesbrough man admits he is used to tough conditions

Goalscorer Tom Craddock was delighted to finally be back on the scoresheet as his strike set Luton Town on their way to a 2-0 victory at Grays Athletic on Saturday.

Craddock's first goal since mid-October gave the Hatters a deserved 1-0 half-time advantage at the New Recreation Ground and they sealed victory with Kevin Gallen's second-half strike.

Craddock, 23, said: "I'm always happy to get on the scoresheet and thankfully it set us off today to get the win.

"We are a very versatile side and mixed it when we had to."

And while the former Middlesbrough man admitted gale-force winds and a sodden pitch had made it difficult, he said it wasn't anything he hadn't encountered before.

Craddock continued: "It was there for all to see, it was very hard. We knew it would be like that before the game so everyone was prepared for it.

"If you come from where I have, I have had a few school games in similar conditions. The wind and the rain is nothing strange to me.

"We knew it was windy so the best way to cut it out was to keep the ball on the floor and the wind couldn't get hold of it.

"We got the win, which was the most important thing."

And he was full of praise for Town's travelling army of supporters that completely outnumbered Grays' fans at the New Recreation Ground.

He added: "I've seen that when we are warming up. They said there were 1,600 fans and probably 1,500 of them were from Luton."
