Irshad's fine figures can't force a victory for Indians

Luton Town and Indians' Saturday first team sit third in the Saracens Herts League Championship after a low scoring draw at Reed on Saturday.

Mohammed Irshad helped reduce the hosts to 169 all out with 3-41 from 20 overs.

Indians were then dealt an early blow as they were left 7-1, but opener Fayaz Homyoon hit 35 and Sachin Wagh 32 to give Luton a chance.

However, four wickets for 15 runs slowed the visitors down and they could only finish on 127-7 from 43 overs.

The IIs’ promotion bid in Division Three B took a hit as they succumbed to Sandridge.

Luton were bowled out for just 146 at Wardown Park as Jeremy Page top scored with 32 and Shuaib Dalvi hit 24.

Despite Zainul Abadeen’s three wickets, Luton couldn’t quite take all 10 they needed as they lost by just two wickets, the visitors finishing on 147-8.

Indians’ IIIs find themselves hovering just 15 points above the relegation zone in Division Five B after they drew with Shenley Village IIs.

Dharmesh Mistry hit an unbeaten 52 to get Luton to their score of 163-9, whilst Karanjit Singh made 27.

Waqar Arif took an important 3-39 in reply, but Luton were left frustrated as they could only take seven Shenley wickets as the visitors finished 130-7 at Lancaster Avenue.

The IVs enjoyed a close-run victory though as they beat Langleybury IIIs by two wickets in Division Eight A.

On Sunday, the firsts and IVs saw their games rained off, while the IIs were handed 30 points as Stevenage conceded.

The IIIs suffered a disappointing five wicket defeat to Blunham IIs in their Beds County League Division Three clash.

Indians were bowled out for just 136 and their top scorer was extras.

Samsher Singh then took 2-24 and Sukhmeet Singh 2-36 in reply but it wasn’t enough to prevent a five-wicket loss as Blunham finished 138-5 with over six overs to spare.
