Misfiring Dunstable fail to take third spot

Dunstable's Saturday first team squandered the chance to move up to third in the Saracens Herts League Championship as another poor batting show proved to be their downfall against Langleybury.

Dunstable were reduced to 42-3 as their top order failed once again, while s although Guy Hill (34) and Sam Cherry (26) manufactured a recovery of sorts, they were dismissed for 131.

Cherry then took an early wicket, before John Barry claimed 4-18 and Jack Kilduff picked up 2-20, but Langleybury scraped to 132-7.

The IIs extended their lead at the top in Division Four B against Hertford IIIs.

Late call-up Ayaz Ahmed took 3-25 and captain Sam Marshall returned 3-19 as they bowled the visitors out for just 118 at Lancot Park.

Dunstable then reached 120-7 thanks to Lee Pratt (42), Marshall (23) and Ian Horton (22).

A fantastic all-round performance made it seven wins from seven for the IIIs in Division Eight B, as they beat Letchworth IVs by 137 runs.

Choosing to bat, Dunstable made 230-7 thanks to Richard Kilduff (57), Adam Lewis (45), Ned Whitney (26) and Ben Adamson (25).

The hosts opted to open the bowling with Awais Khan’s off-spin which proved fruitful as he took 3-16 from 15 overs, while Lewis’ 4-9 ensured Letchworth were dismissed for 93 with 13 balls remaining.

Due to overnight rain, the IVs game with Pilgrims Oakley was washed out.

Dunstable’s Sunday team extend their lead at the top of the Beds County League Premier Division to 24 points as they hammered Eversholt.

Overseas opener Ben Abbott hit a destructive 110 from just 56 balls including nine sixes, but captain Sam Cherry went one better by hitting a mammoth 13 sixes on his way to 141 from just 115 balls, his highest score for Dunstable and the best league score at the club this season.

Sam Marshall also hit 46 as Dunstable posted 360-5 from their 45 overs, before Jack Kilduff (3-29) and Luke Cherry (3-55) saw Eversholt dismissed for 143.

The IIs were edged out by Lutonian, as they fell to a two wicket defeat in Division One.

Steve Rumball (22) helped Dunstable to 138 all out, but Lutonan reached 140-9 despite the best efforts of Awais Khan (3-13) and Rob Simpkins (4-19).

The IIIs game against Flitwick was cancelled.
