FA Cup brings cash windfall

Hatters shorts

Success in the FA Cup has already proved worthwhile for the Hatters who netted over 50,000 by beating Rochdale in their first round replay on Wednesday.

Luton picked up 18,000 in prize money and were handed a further 34,000 for having their game screened live on ITV4.

Director Stephen Browne said: "Your first priority is to get through the game and get a result, but the TV was the biggest part of that. For a club like Luton you do expect one or two cup runs in one of the cups and this is the cup which is more financially rewarding than any other and the one that everyone knows and loves."

Andrew is over terrible injury

Former Luton Town striker Calvin Andrew has recovered from a career-threatening injury to restart his Crystal Palace career.

The 22-year-old striker suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury in his right knee in May, but is now fit enough to return to first team training.

Assistant boss Mick Jones said: "We have received the all-clear from Calvin's surgeon for him to start playing again.

"It really has been a remarkable comeback because he is way ahead of schedule.

"The surgeon has done a magnificent job on it but Calvin has worked so hard during his rehabilitation. I am absolutely delighted for Calvin. The injury was potentially career-threatening but I have never seen a player work as hard as him."

Town re-arrange two of their games

Two games have had to be re-arranged by Luton Town for next year.

The Hatters' 2-0 victory at Rochdale in their FA Cup first round replay on Wednesday means they will travel to Rotherham United in the second round on Saturday, November 28.

As a result, their home game against AFC Wimbledon has been moved to Tuesday, February 16, kick off 7.45pm.

Meanwhile, their game at Histon, which was originally scheduled for New Year's Day, will now take place at the Glassworld Stadium at 1pm on Sunday, January 3.
