Arsenal keeper Matt Macey hopes that coming up against '˜magicians' such as Alexis Sanchez will stand him in good stead for his loan stint at Luton.

The 22-year-old stopper joined on loan from the Gunners in January and has made four appearances for the Hatters so far.

He was involved in the first team squad at the Emirates last term and on his time on the training ground, he said: “Arsenal involve the youth a lot, so last season I was lucky enough to get involved quite a few times with injuries to the senior goalkeepers.

“You get them in training, shooting, little games, they’re magicians when it comes to that sort of thing.

“It’s part of your learning as a goalkeeper, getting buried quite a few times when you start and you’re younger.

“But that’s the same as anything, when you get used to it, find ways to stop it and that’s all part of it.”

Although dropping down to League Two, Macey has been impressed with the level of finishing on display at the Hatters too, saying: “I’ve seen the quality from all across the team.

“All the forwards have had a fair bit of finishing practice and they’ve been slotting them away which is a good thing I guess.”

Meanwhile, Macey admitted it had been a huge plus to work with current Gunners number one Petr Cech, adding: “Growing up, Petr Cech was the man for me in terms of goalkeepers. To be able to work with Petr last season and this season, it’s learning off the best to get much better.”
