Former Sunderland U18s captain Lewis Gibbons is expected to complete his long drawn out move to Kenilworth Road during the January transfer window.

Hatters manager John Still has been trying to sort out a place for the defender, who has been playing for Northern League side Durham City, to stay before bringing him in and speaking this afternoon, he said: “I spoke to Lewis and we’re very hopeful of digs being made available for him over the course of this month.

“That’s something that will hopefully come to a conclusion as it’s really important that when he comes and he knows the situation, that he’s not sat in a hotel.

“He needs somewhere to stay permanently, and with the situation we have with young players here, this time of year you decide if you’re not going to renew (contracts), so they maybe move on and that will leave us a little bit of a hole to push Lewis into.”
