On-loan Luton Town goalkeeper Jonathan Mitchell has been recalled from Kenilworth Road by parent club Derby County.

The Rams have activated a clause to recall Mitchell after the first 28 days of the loan as keeper Lee Grant requires a minor groin operation, so Mitchell will act as cover for first-choice custodian Scott Carson.

The 21-year-old, who had made five appearances for Luton since signing last month, goes straight into the Derby squad for tonight’s Sky Bet Championship fixture at home to Hull City.

Hatters are now left with Elliot Justham and Craig King, who has been recalled from Bishop’s Stortford, for Saturday’s home game with Accrington Stanley after Mark Tyler recently joined former Peterborough on loan until the end of the season.
