The 27-year-old, who has four goals this season, including a run of three in six matches has started the last seven games which has seen Luton only pick up one victory.

Jones admitted that the form of the summer signing from Walsall has dropped slightly, but is confident with the right man-management, he can flourish, saying: "Yes he has (dipped), but so have a few. It does happen, but the lad has quality, real quality.

“So form can be temporary, form can dip and form can fluctuate, but his quality will always be there.

“So now he has to bring it out. There’s a big onus on Jordan, Jordan’s a big player for us, that’s why I brought him in.

“I pitched to him I wanted him here, because of things he does, and he’s got to turn up.

“It happens, and now it’s up to me to motivate him, get that out of him, to show faith in him and I know he’ll repay me”

Meanwhile, when asked about Jake Gray and Lawson D’Ath who haven’t featured in the last four matches, with D'Ath barely figuring since his January move from Northampton, Jones continued: “They’re really pushing, really pushing, they’ve trained well, it’s time, they were brought in for this.

“They’ve had to be patient, but we need an energetic, fluent performance and we're going to look for that."

Jones also confirmed that keeper Matt Macey has bounced back well in training from his mistake at Newport on Tuesday night when he was somehow beaten by Sean Rigg’s tame 30-yard free kick.

The Town chief added: “He will be down because he thought something was going to happen and it didn’t, it went in.

"It was a soft goal from our point to give away as if there hadn’t been a wall there, you don’t get beaten from that distance anyway, regardless.

“But he’ll learn from that and as I said, when you have young keepers, you have to make sure that when they do that, that you say, 'yes okay, that doesn’t happen again, but now go on.'

“He’s finding some real good form at the minute and pulled off a wonderful, wonderful save second half to not redeem himself, because that’s his job.

“So he’ll be down because he made an error, but all keepers make errors.

“It’s how they react and he’s reacted the right way, so well done.”
