Hatters defender Mark O’Brien saw his debut for Southport in the National League on Saturday ruined by a last-minute goal as the Sandgrounders lost 1-0 at home to Halifax.

The 23-year-old was thrust straight into the starting line-up after joining on Friday, playing the full 90 minutes, but saw Shaquille McDonald’s injury time strike condemn Port to their third defeat in four home matches.

Neither Matt Robinson or Scott Griffiths featured for Woking as they slipped to a fourth successive league defeat at home to Dover Athletic at the weekend.

Goalkeeper Craig King made his debut for Bishop’s Stortford as they earned an excellent 3-2 victory at Whitehawk in National League South, while Mark Onyemah had the full 90 as Dartford lost 2-1 at Weston Super Mare.
