Mullins had returned to the side against Newport County on Tuesday night, but hobbled off on 67 minutes after injuring his leg once more.

Meanwhile, Senior, who had started the 1-1 draw with Exeter City at the weekend, wasn’t involved at all, as boss Nathan Jones said: “Jack’s struggling a little bit, so is Johnny Mullins, so those two won’t feature.

“Mullins is struggling a little bit in terms of the injury from the other night. It’s a recurrence, we knew we needed men the other night to compete and we brought him back, but he’s still feeling it.”

Jones didn’t believe it had been a risk playing Mullins at Rodney Parade though, saying: “He declared himself fit, he wanted to play, we did all the due diligence and everything on him.

“But he’s just still feeling it, so we don’t push them further than we think they can go, because otherwise you lose them for a longer period.

“It’s a frustrating one for him because he’s important for us, but we’ve got to look after him.”

Meanwhile, Jones also confirmed again that leading scorer Danny Hylton, who came off at the break after scoring his 24th of the season at Newport, was all fine to go.

He added: “Hylts was a precaution. We took him off at half time, the pitch was obviously very industrial with the way it was, so it wasn’t anything muscular, it just would have taken a little bit out of him more than normal pitches.

“It was precautionary with Danny and he didn’t pull anything, or do anything, it was just bit of stiffness, so yes he’s available.”
