Hatters midfielder Pelly Ruddock Mpanzu is hoping he can have a similar impact to Andre Gray this season.
Like Ruddock Mpanzu, Gray wasn’t a regular for Town at the start of last campaign, before winning his place back and going on to finish as leading marksman.
Although not anticipating emulating his goalscoring exploits, former West Ham man Ruddock Mpanzu hopes he will become one of the first names on the teamsheet.
Speaking after his first start of the season against Plymouth Argyle on Saturday, he said: “I don’t think I’ll score 30 goals, but I want to contribute and keep pushing on now.
“This is my first start and hopefully I can continue and get more starts.
“Every player is different but hopefully my pace and power can get into the box and I can assist some goals for the team.”
Ruddock Mpanzu admitted it had been difficult sitting on the bench and knew the pressure was on to deliver against the Pilgrims.
