Hatters boss John Still has been pipped to the League Two manager of the month award by Accrington Stanley chief John Coleman.
A creditable draw at Portsmouth was followed by four straight victories as Stanley climbed into the play-off places.
George Burley, who chairs the Sky Bet Manager of the Month judging panel, said: “To gain promotion you have to be consistent and John has certainly got this from Accrington Stanley in September.
“They achieved a good draw against Portsmouth then had four straight wins scoring 10 goals while conceding just three.”
Still had been nominated, along with Ricardo Moniz (Notts County) and Keith Curle (Carlisle) after leading Luton to four wins from five during September.
