Hatters boss John Still wants centre half Luke Wilkinson to make his way through the leagues with Luton.
The summer signing from Dagenham & Redbridge has been one of the stand-out performers for the club so far this campaign.
Still admitted he could have sold Wilkinson to a higher level when he had the defender at Dagenham & Redbridge, but wants him to realise his potential with Luton.
He said: “I described him as a young Tony Adams as that’s how I see him.
“He’s come in and done very well and I’ve always said that he is one that could do that (be sold for big money) as I think he’s got that capability.
“Hopefully we’re doing well enough that we don’t have to sell him though.
“Maybe we’ll be the club that he’ll rise with as he’s certainly become an important part of our team.”
Wilkinson himself believes that Town are well placed to push for a promotion place this season as he said: “ We know we’re capable of being in the play-offs or above the play-offs.”
