New Town signing Alan Sheehan would be delighted if, like himself, former Brighton & Hove Albion defender Glen Rea turned his loan move at Luton last season into a permanent one.

The Irish U21 international recently admitted on social media he had left the Seagulls after his contract with the south coast club ran out.

Luton boss Nathan Jones confirmed to the News/Gazette recently that Rea was one of a number of targets on his wish-list this summer and Sheehan, who partnered the youngster in the centre of defence for the final seven games of the campaign, said: “I’m not surprised that they’re interested in him.

“I’m sure there’s going to be a lot of other clubs interested in him as he’s a very good player and got a great attitude.

“He’s the type of player I wouldn’t mind seeing in the squad, that’s for sure.”
