Aston Villa full back Lewis Kinsella admitted he jumped at the chance to move to Kenilworth Road for the remainder of the season last week.

The 20-year-old defender was signed by Hatters boss John Still after injury worries to both Scott Griffiths and Jake Howells, making his debut in the 2-1 win at Northampton on Saturday.

Kinsella, who had been on the bench for the Villa first team’s last three games, said: “As soon as I heard it was Luton Town I wanted to get it done because I won’t say it too loudly as I’m from Watford which is close to home.

“I was on the bench the last three games, which has been good experience, but the gaffer (Tim Sherwood) and I came to the decision, I need to get some experience, get out playing some games.

“I’ve only been play 21s and its not really been benefiting me as I’ve been playing that the last four years. So I’ve so come here to play some first team football and especially at Luton Town who are challenging for promotion.”
