Hatters defender Luke Wilkinson is relishing heading back to his former club Dagenham & Redbridge this evening.
The centre half played over 60 times for the Daggers, winning the club’s player of the season award in 2012-13 as he said: “It’s nice to go back in and see some faces where I sort of started my Football League career, but the main thing is we’ll go there and win.
“It will be interesting to see what the reception is like, hopefully a good one.”Luke Wilkinson
“It’s just another game and thats how I try and look at it, got a bit more about it as it’s your old team, but try to look at it as another game, just the way I look at it.
Wilkinson is one of a number of former Daggers in the Luton squad, alongside Scott Griffiths and Paul Benson, while manager John Still is something of a hero at Victoria Road, taking the club into the Football League during his lengthy spell in charge.
On the reception he might be afforded, Wilkinson continued: “I don’t know, hopefully a nice one, but you don’t know with these football fans.
“Me, Scott, Benno, the gaffer and Tel (Terry Harris), Dave Richardson (fitness coach), people like that, it will be interesting to see what the reception is like, hopefully a good one.
“It doesn’t really bother me bad or good reception though, that’s football, you have to get on with it and the most important thing is the match.”
With just four games remaining and Town now three points outside the play-offs, Wilkinson urged his side to go into the game with no fear in their bid to reach the top seven.
He added: “I think we’ve got to out and play with freedom, relax and play the way we know we can play.
“We’re not far off that at the minute, just little things aren’t going our way, but I’m positive we can get a good result.
“It’s a tight league, all teams are up and down and anyone can beat anyone. All our last four games are winnable, but we’ve got to go out and win this one first.”
