Hatch payment plan is revealed
Hatters shorts
Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony has revealed that Luton paid 60,000 to take striker Liam Hatch on loan for the season and will pay another 115,000 for the striker at the end of the forthcoming season.
Parkin saddles up at new club
Striker Sam Parkin will resume his career at League One outfit Walsall after putting pen to paper on a one-year deal with an option for a further 12 months.
The 28-year-old, whose contract at Kenilworth Road expired at the end of the season, is Chris Hutchings' fourth signing of the off season and will join the trio of Troy Deeney, Alex Nicholls and Steve Jones in the Saddlers' attack.
Parkin fell out of favour at Luton last season, spending some time on loan at Leyton Orient, and although he returned to the Hatters' ranks, his departure was inevitable.
His time at Kenilworth Road was marred by injuries and, in three seasons following his 340,000 transfer from Ipswich Town in August 2006, he only managed 50 appearances, scoring 10 goals in the process.
Starting his career at Chelsea, Parkin has also appeared for Millwall, Wycombe, Northampton, Oldham and Swindon, where he hit 67 goals in 124 appearances.
Morgan fails to earn Tykes deal
Championship outfit Barnsley will not be signing released Luton Town winger Dean Morgan.
Out of contract Morgan came on as a second half substitute in the Tykes' 3-0 victory at Buxton but failed to impress. Boss Simon Davey said: "We will not be taking things any further with Dean and he has now left the club."
Boyce signs new deal at the Latics
Athletic former Luton defender Emmerson Boyce has signed a new contract until 2012 at Wigan Athletic.
New Latics manager Roberto Martinez has moved quickly to tie up the services of Aylesbury-born Boyce, who is equally comfortable at centre-half and right-back.
He joins Ipswich youth product Titus Bramble in penning three-year deals with the Premiership outfit. Former Swansea boss Martinez said: "Both are at a great moment in their careers and I think theyir best years are still to come. We're very lucky to have players of that calibre."
Boyce, 29, who joined the Lancashire side from Crystal Palace in 2006, added: "I've been impressed with the new manager and he has brought a lot of energy into the club with him.
"Swansea received a lot of plaudits last season about how well they played and you can only assume he wants to bring that style of play to Wigan – I'm really happy to be a part of it."
