Hatters determined not to mess it all up
Money is proud of the way his players held their nerve
Realistic Hatters boss Richard Money admitted his players are feeling the pressure as much as the rest of the other promotion contenders after seeing his side snatch a last-minute 2-1 home win against Forest Green Rovers on Tuesday night.
With all but one of Town's promotion rivals slipping up on the night, Money was full of praise for his side's character.
He said: "It was a terrific three points. The players deserve a fantastic amount of credit for digging out a result that looked unlikely again, especially when you look at the other results.
"It's nervy stuff. Go and ask York tonight, ask Oxford tonight, ask Kettering tonight – it is nervy stuff.
"The dressing room is so focused and so single-minded it's unreal. Everyone in the dressing room can touch what might be here. Everyone there is messing their pants. Everyone thinks the life of a footballer is easy. You have to go out and win in front of 6,500 people and entertain them."
Tom Craddock scored both of Luton's goal, the first from the spot to give them the lead after he was fouled in the box, and the second he bundled past the keeper before lashing home at the death.
Money said: "If you can take your chances in the first half... maybe you can flow a little better second half. The players are well aware that everyone is entitled to say what they want. When the score goes 1-1 everyone knows the huge disappointment around the ground.
"Tom found himself in the right position and was determined and at the third attempt has got it in. Obviously we are very thankful he did."
In-between Blue Square Premier strugglers Rovers levelled from the spot after Janos Kovacs had been harshly penalised for handball with nine minutes left.
Money said: "I've seen them given. I think the pitch has played a massive part in it. He has fallen over on it. He certainly hasn't handled it. Given the referee's performance tonight I'm not surprised he has given it."
The Luton boss pointed to the fact that his side have not kept a clean sheet at home since September 12, 2009, and said changing that would be key in them achieving promotion.
He added: "That's where it will get us to between now and the end of the season."
