Hatters hit Offley for six in friendly

Luton Town Ladies finished their pre-season campaign with a 6-0 win over Offley & Stopsley at the weekend.

Hatters started well and took the lead when Erica Byron finished coolly.

Jodie Southby’s fine long range drive forced Kelly Moss into a low save, but on the stroke of half time, Southby’s perfect corner was headed home by Nicola Henman.

In the second period, Luton had a third when Shannon Pratt found Jess McKay and she rounded the keeper to finish neatly.

Michelle Byrne added the fourth with a curling shot, while new signing Dionne Manning was causing the Offley defence problems.

Henman set up Jo Rutherford to score with a clever back heel, while Zara Carroll netted the sixth late on.

Ahead of Sunday’s league opener with Gillingham, manager Nikki Baker said “I am really pleased with how pre-season has gone. We have only lost once and have played some really good football.

“It has been good to give the youngsters lots of minutes and be able to see how they cope in adult football.”
