Kovacs is critical of Hatters win

Luton must learn their lessons says Janos

Luton must learn from the mistakes they made on Saturday

according to centre-half Janos Kovacs as they almost threw away victory at Hayes & Yeading.

Twice the Hatters led by two goals, but in the end they were forced to cling on for victory at the death in a game they dominated from start to finish and should have won by a landslide.

Town created countless chances, with Liam Hatch, Claude Gnakpa and substitute Tom Craddock all netting, but too many loose moments at the back allowed United to score twice and, but for a decent save from Mark Tyler, they could have snatched an unlikely point at the death.

Kovacs, 24, said: "It was very nervous and I think we caused our problems. In the first half we scored the two goals and it looked like we could easily win with five or six goals.

"Second half we dropped the tempo. I and the whole team are disappointed with this second half performance.

"After the first half, we have got to win this kind of game easily to show to everyone in the league that we are good enough to beat teams like Hayes & Yeading by five or six goals.

"This score we need to think about and the second half performance and we need to learn from it. If they score a goal it's 2-1 and they are back in the game and it's dangerous.

"We need to be a much more professional team. If you are professional enough you come out for the second half and you do the same things you showed in the first half and you need to do that if you are to earn promotion.

"It's very frustrating, especially with those kinds of goals we conceded. The first is like a cross that went into the goal.

"Both goals just came from the same thing. We had won the game. We need to focus and work hard until the final whistle and that was maybe in the second half.

"We need to go forward and score more goals. We scored three good goals today. If you stop going forward and you are not working hard enough and think for every minute then the struggling time will come. We need to learn from this game and pick ourselves up."
