Dunstable Town striker Alex Cathline continued his fine form with another two goals during the Blues’ victory against National South side Oxford City on Tuesday night.

The hosts were up against a side including former Dunstable player Scott Davies, as they started brightly, with notable performances from Cathline, Jack Hutchinson and Gary Wharton.

Cathline’s admirable shot on the turn lacked volition, before he broke the target on 21 minutes, meeting Wharton’s powerful cross with a low shot into the bottom corner.

Adam Moussi had to go off with an injury, before after the break, Dunstable came close when Adam Pepera headed against the bar.

With 53 minutes gone, Dunstable extended their lead as Cathline bagged his second of the evening, with an accurate finish.

Oxford pulled one back on the hour mark when a free kick was sent into the box and Liam Enver-Marum tapped home from close range, but Dunstable held on to seal a morale-boosting win ahead of Saturday’s Southern League Premier Division clash at home to Cambridge City.
