Former Luton striker Jason Walker has rejected the chance to join Gateshead after training with the Skrill Premier outfit for three weeks.

Heed boss Gary Mills, who managed him at York, said: “It’s disappointing as we’ve basically got him fit.

“But football never surprises you and you’re either loyal or you’re not.”

The 29-year-old left Ostersunds FK of Sweden in November and Mills had been confident of signing the striker who Town signed from Barrow and scored six times in 29 appearances, but infamously saw his tamely chipped penalty down the centre of the goal saved as Luton lost their 2011 play-off final to AFC Wimbledon on penalties.
