Town are continuing to monitor Garry Richards fitness after a season on the sidelines with an ankle issue following his signing from Gillingham last summer, writes Mark Wood.
The 27-year-old centre-half remains keen to play for the Hatters, but has endured a miserable spell at Kenilworth Road following a series of operations.
Managing director Gary Sweet said: “We are monitoring Garry and Garry’s in the midst of a number of tests again and I genuinely feel sorry for Garry because he has bust a gut to try and get fit and he just comes up with one problem or another.
“Will he put a Luton shirt on at all? I don’t know the answer to that and at the moment I don’t think he does. I know he wants to and that’s the most important thing for us.
“We do have a strong duty of care to players who are fully committed to the cause and just because he hasn’t appeared on the Kenilworth Road pitch in a game for us doesn’t mean to say he’s not committed.”
