Hatters still in the dark over Guttridge injury

Hatters boss John Still is still waiting to find out the extent of midfielder Luke Guttridge’s injury, writes Mike Simmonds.

The 31-year-old was stretchered off against Alfreton the previous weekend, but was present for the 0-0 draw at Salisbury on Saturday, wearing a protective boot.

Still said: “We will know a bit more this week, I think he’ll see someone that will give us a bigger picture of it all, so we’ll just wait and see,

“I don’t think it’s ligament, I think it’s metatarsal, he’s had it before and it’s what we’re going to do with it.”

As ever though, Still wasn’t overly fazed about the absence of the former Northampton and Cambridge player, who has been such an influential member of the squad this term, with 13 goals so far.

He continued: “I’m not really worried about anything. I don’t know how long he’s going to be as we talk today, when we find out I’ll digest it.

“Luke’s been a very good player for us this year, a very important part of the squad, but we’ve lost important parts of our squad this season and we’ve overcome it,

“We lost (Alex) Lacey when he was outstanding, we lost (Andy) Parry when I thought he was outstanding for us.

“Alex Lawless, who I thinks an outstanding player, hasn’t really featured this year. We lost Smudger (Jonathan Smith) who was absolutely enormous for us.

“At the start of the season we never had a centre forward when Jon Shaw was injured, but we’ve overcome it and we’ll overcome that, because that team ethic can do it.

“That’s what we believe in, its a team, so when we do know the full extent of it we’ll deal with it.”
