Hatters boss doesn't believe pressure is off on Luton's travels

Hatters have enjoyed an impressive away record this term, winning six matches, compared to a paltry three in front of their own fans.

But Jones wasn’t subscribing to the view that Luton will find it easier on their travels at Wycombe Wanderers today, saying: “I don’t think the pressure is on or off, I’m here to win football matches.

“I hope we continue that good (away) form, but in terms of feeling pressure, I like playing at home, I like being in front of our fans, I think they’re excellent fans.

“So I don’t feel under any pressure being at home, I would like us to win games, but I want us to win all games, not just home or away, all games.

“There’s no more added pressure or less pressure than playing at home and away.”

Standing in front of Town recording a seventh win on their travels this season is a Chairboyts team who are on the cusp of the play-offs themselves and were very comfortable 2-0 winners at Kenilworth Road recently.

Jones continued: “It’s a very difficult game, he’s done a great job Gareth (Ainsworth), he’s been there a few years now and knows what the league’s about.

“I knows what he’s looking to do and it will be a very very difficult game.

“They’ve had some difficult games recently, but had a terrific result against Plymouth on the weekend, so we know what kind of game it’s going to be and we’ll be ready.”

On the players Wycombe have who Hatters should look out for, Jones said: “I know (Paris) Cowan-Hall, I’ve worked with Hayesy (Paul Hayes) at Charlton, I know Ugo (Gozie Ugwu) who plays upfront is a threat, they have decent players and Marcus Bean I’ve played against for years.

“They’ve got a bit of experience and few young players there, so I know it’s going to be a real tough, tough test and not to single out anyone, but every team has dangerous players who can score.

“In this league, anyone can score at any given time, it’s one of those leagues.”

Meanwhile, newly-appointed Hatters first team coach Kevin Nugent, who was at Leyton Orient for their 1-1 draw with Wycombe earlier in the campaign, added: “I’ve seen them a couple of times, they’re very, very organised, they do a fantastic job, the manager and his assistants as well. They’re really, really organised, they’re another one who’s hard to break down, hard to beat and it will be a tough game, without a doubt.”
