Six of Luton’s nine wins this term have come on their travels, including a 2-0 win at Mansfield in new boss Nathan Jones’ second game in charge last month.

Howells said: “I think we’ve been better away from home and there’s a little bit of pressure off us I suppose in a different way, but we go into every game trying to get three points, so I’m sure we’ll set up in the same way trying to get three points.

“On Saturday, we know it’s going to be tough, they’re a good side, we played them not long ago, so we know what they can do and it’s not going to be easy.

“But we feel the squad we’ve got, we’ve always got a chance of winning games, that’s the feeling we’ve got in the changing room.

With just 17 games to go, Luton trail to the top seven by nine points, although Howells isn’t giving up hope on a play-off berth just yet, as he continued: “I don’t see why not, there’s a long way to go, a lot of games and if we can get a little run going you never know what happens.”

Recent loan addition Alan Sheehan is well aware that Luton want to have any chance of extending their season, results need to pick up immediately, adding: “We’re improving, we keep on getting to know each other and we’ve got a run-in now where we’ve got to win some games.

“I think everyone has the ambition in the back of their mind, but 17 games to go, it’s up to you how many games you win.

“It’s going to be a hard ask, but we’ll look forward to Wycombe now.”
