Hylton is targeting a double promotion with Luton

Hatters striker Danny Hylton believes the club should be looking to achieve not one, but two promotions during his time at Kenilworth Road.

The 27-year-old frontman who penned a two year deal with Town recently, turning down a new contract with Oxford, despite the U’s going up to League One, is confident his new side should be looking to emulate his old team’s achievements.

He said: “I think we can get promoted and go again, I’m not just looking at League One, there’s no reason why we can’t go again.

“I know the players they’ve got in there, the level they’ve played at, I know the talent of some of the boys from playing against them.

“I know the gaffer wouldn’t be here if he didn’t want to get the club up, and there’s absolutely no reason why if Luton fell short of the play-offs this season, we can’t go and get promoted next season.

“Look at Oxford, I think we finished 14th or 15th in the league and then went and got promoted the season after.

“I don’t see any reason why if we’ve got the squad and made a couple of additions and all work hard then we can’t get promoted.

“It just shows that to make that decision to move here, how much I’m looking forward to next season as I wouldn’t have done it if I didn’t think we could achieve something big at Luton.”

Hylton also feels that the new stadium planned for Power Court was further evidence that the club is set up for a bright future both on and off the field.

He added: “That just shows the ambition of the club as well. I don’t think they’re going to want to have a new stadium and all that if they’re planning on staying in League Two.

“There’s obviously ambitions to take this club on to League One and the Championship and you never know where you can go from there.

“It puts the club in a great position, everything’s in place to have a real go and try to have a successful season.”
