The Hatters chief had been delighted with an hour of the 1-0 win over Wycombe Wanderers last weekend, where Luton triumphed thanks to Cameron McGeehan’s stunning strike.

However, he doesn’t expect his players to rest on their laurels and is determined they produce a more complete performance.

Jones said: “I want to see better if I’m honest, but it was a real good platform.

“I think 30 minutes we were nowhere near where we need to be and we got away with a few things.

“After watching it back, it wasn’t as bad as I thought it was but it felt bad. For the final 60 minutes I thought we were excellent as once we did actually get a bit of bravery in us, we played through it, scored a good goal and got a foothold in the game.

“In the second half I thought we were very good value for our win, but I want to build on that and not think that’s just it, I want us to get better.”

On the trip to the Dons, who are in with a real chance of the play-offs this term, Jones added: “They are a decent side, they have a real threat about them, a young manager, so he’s proactive.

“I know Neal (Ardley) and it will be a very difficult test.

“They put you under a lot of pressure, have got some front men with pace and they’ve got four of them so if two are not doing it, they bring two on.

“We know what kind of test we’ll get, we’re away from home again, and it’s a tight ground, competitive ground.

“We’re envisaging a response from us, the form we’re in, we’ll take our amazing travelling fans and are looking forward to the game, we really are, we’ve had a good weeks training, got some things in place again.

“We’re in a decent place at the minute, we want to be further up the league, but that’s a process, only time can do that, as you can’t have a 20 point game for example, that shoots you straight up.

“We’re happy with how we played against Wycombe, but now we’ve got to do it all again and I want us to be better than we were against Wycombe as we’ve had another week with them, put further things in place.

“We’ll learn our lessons from the things we did not quite as well at Wycombe. It’s big, big game, a tough game but one we’re looking forward to.”
