Hatters boss John Still wasn’t going to stand in JJ O’Donnell’s way after the midfielder joined Gateshead this week.
O’Donnell still had a year left on his deal at Kenilworth Road, but made his intentions to Still known that he wanted to leave.
The boss said: “We never wanted him to go, JJ wanted to. Once players want to go, I want them to go, so we agreed that.
“We got a small fee for him, JJ was happy, I’m happy, I don’t want players that don’t want to be here.”
