Hatters boss John Still is expecting to complete a deal to sign Welling United striker Ross Lafayette.
The 27-year-old was the Wings top scorer with 16 league goals last season, including a cracker against Town in Luton’s 2-1 win at Park View Road.
Welling announced on their official website Lafayette had turned down a one year deal with them and was expected to sign for Town.
Speaking from Cyprus, Still hoped that was the case as he said: “We’re negotiating with him and hoping that we get it concluded in the next few days as I don’t see there being an issue.
“His goalscoring at this level is very good. He’s very pacey, his all-round game is good and he knows how to score a goal.”
The hunger and determination of Lafayette to prove himself in the Football League was also another deciding factor for the boss too.
