Luton show the way forward

How the Hatters rated

Mark Tyler: 7 – Showed no ill effect from the back problem that has kept him out. One good save to deny Jason Walker but virtually untroubled.

George Pilkington: 7.5 – Much more like his normal self. Gelled well with Kovacs and gave little away.

Janos Kovacs: 7 – Dominant in the air at the back, despite being up against a good froward in the form of Nick Chadwick.

Keith Keane: 7.5 – Reads the game so well and made a number of important interventions. Long throw could become a real weapon.

Freddie Murray: 7 – Struggled to get forward but stuck to his task manfully as part of a solid-looking back four.

Kevin Nicholls: 7 – Not as mobile as he once was, but always looked for the forward pass and delivered some great set-pieces, including the corner for the goal.

Asa Hall: 7.5 – Lively from the very start. Not afraid to put his foot in or have a pop at goal – even if his shooting was a little wayward.

Adam Newton: 7 – Not at his rampaging best, but far more keyed in and played a full part in a real team performance.

Claude Gnakpa: 7.5 – Real pace, lots of skill and great in the air. Gave the Bluebirds a torrid time on the right, but could still do better defensively.

Tom Craddock: 8 – Chased everything and was a constant menace, just need to rediscover that Midas touch in front of goal.

Liam Hatch: 8 – Showed again just what the Hatters have been missing all season. Great goal, almost had a second, and was real thorn in Barrow's side.

Mark Nwokeji (sub): 7 – Gave Luton some renewed impetus and Barrow yet another headache at the back.

Rossi Jarvis (sub): 6.5 – Linked well after his introduction but not enough time to make a real impact.

Craig Nelthorpe (sub): 6.5 – Put in a great cross after his introduction and looked keen and direct.
