Luton Town & Indians moved a point clear at the top of Saracens Herts League Division Two as they eased past the challenge of Reed on Saturday.

Batting first, J Heslam made 62 as Reed were bowled out for 156 in the 51st over. Siddarth Sharma was the pick of the Town attack with 3-36 and Haesha Cooray, Nitin Parsooth and Wakar Arif took two wickets apiece.

In reply, Town encountered few problems as they reached their target with six wickets in hand.

Jeremy Page led the way with an unbeaten 54 while Adil Khan contributed 34. Bernard Morss took 3-26 for Reed.

Dunstable's woes in Division One continued as they went down to Langleybury by three wickets.

Cheetan Patel scored an excellent 88 in Dunstable's total of 186, a score Langleybury reached for the loss of seven wickets, with Pakistan A batsman Shahzad Malik the matchwinner with 120.

In Division Four, Dunstable IIs were beaten by four wickets at league leaders Northampton Exiles.

Matt Puffett's 49 was the standout performance in Dunstable's 154 and, although the Exiles had a few problems during their chase, they reached 155-6 to take the spoils.

Luton Town & Indians IIs had to settle for a draw against Old Camdenians in Division Five.

Ronald Mlambo and Isher Panesar took 4-47 and 4-53 respectively as Camdenians were dismissed for 243.

Mlambo completed a good all round game with 85 and Hitesh Chauhan made 60, but Town closed on 226-7 to earn a share of the points.

A generous declaration backfired as Dunstable IIIs lost to Eversholt IIs in Division Seven.

Dave Skinner, 77, and Andrew Kite, 66 not out, steered Dunstable to 235-7, but Eversholt got home with an over to spare at 237-4.

Hexton came out on top in a high-scoring encounter with London Colney. Colney scored 276-7, but Hexton's chase had a positive outcome as they got home at 277-7.

Luton Town & Indians IIIs had a good day as they hammered Old Camdenians IIs by a massive 181 runs in Division Nine.

Sanjay Khamkar, 92, and Sachin Deshmane, 71, were the chief contributors to Town's 266-9, a score that proved to be way out of Camdenians' reach as they slumped to 85 all out, Khamkar taking 4-3 and Kalimullah Khan 3-37.

In Division Ten, Dunstable IVs rushed to a six-wicket win against Kings Langley IIIs.

After bowling Kings out for 173, Dunstable, thanks to an undefeated 58 from Venu Balla, reached their target in under 30 overs.

Pirton triumphed in their Division Eleven meeting with Hertingfordbury IIs.

Hertingfordbury reached 209-6 before Pirton responded with 210-5.

St Margaretsbury IIIs got the better of Luton Town & Indians IVs by seven wickets in Division Twelve.

Town hit 203-9, David Morgan Junior and Ammad Saeed, making 48 and 47 respectively, a total Margaretsbury passed for the loss of just three wickets, Ian Wicks scoring an unbeaten 80 for the victors.

The top of the table clash in the Bedfordshire County League Premier Division on Sunday went the way of defending champions Lutonian as they downed Ampthill Town by 74 runs.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, Lutonian were bowled out for 235 in their final over.

Muhammad Asif Hussain top-scored for Lutonian with 72 and he was assisted by Sajid Dar who added 52. James Sneath was Ampthill's most successful bowler with 4-38.

Matthew Goss then struck a boundary-laden 66, but his efforts proved in vain as the Lutonian attack, led by Naeem Khan with 3-21, ran through the Ampthill line-up to dismiss them for 161.

Luton Town & Indians were forced to chase leather as they succumbed to Ickwell by 72 runs.

The home side racked up a monstrous 343-5 from their 46 overs, J Edwards, 94, J Szwajbak, 67 not out, and S Hussain, 58, all enjoying themselves.

Lutonian made a good fist of their chase, Jeremy Page hitting 78, but the regular fall of wickets meant they could only reach 271.

In Division Two, Lutonian IIs lost to Ampthill IIs by 23 runs.

Ampthill registered 211-9, Masood Mahmood taking 4-41, but fell short of their target at 188, Subash Karawadra scoring 45.

Luton Town & Indians IIs didn't even break sweat as they beat Sharnbrook IIs by 10 wickets in Division Three.

The visitors were bowled out for a dismal 40 in the 19th over, a score Town passed in under seven overs.

Town IIIs edged past Sandy in Division Four, winning by eight runs.

Town totalled 244, Haroon Afridi making 53, before bowling Sandy out for 236, Aqil Raja taking 3-23. D Carr scored 74 for Sandy.
