McVeigh happy to stay a Hatter

Striker yet to attract interest from other clubs

Striker Paul McVeigh admitted he would be more than happy to begin the new season in a Luton Town shirt after a standout showing in the Hatters' pre-season opener at Boreham Wood on Saturday.

The Ulsterman was introduced into the fray at Meadow Park just 17 minutes in, with the Hatters already 2-0 down following a nightmare start, as a replacement for Ryan Charles, who was forced off following a knock to this ankle.

McVeigh galvanised Luton and was by far the best player on the park as Town hit back to earn a comfortable win against their Ryman League Premier Division opponents.

McVeigh, 30, was one of the players offered a free transfer by the club at the end of last season but, with no takers for his services as yet, he remains a Town player. And, with a year still to run on his contract, he says there is a decent chance he still will be plying his trade at Kenilworth Road next season.

He said: "Until something happens I'm going to be here and playing. I've got a contract until the end of the year so until I actually hear something different, I'll be here."
