Luton AC started their Chiltern Cross Country League Division One season with a solid display at Cassiobury Park, Watford.
The outstanding performance came from Rosie Keane who finished second in the Senior Ladies race leading home a strong team which included Sarah Scott, formerly Simpson, who as a Junior won many cross country National titles.
She ran well to finish 15th helping the Ladies team to third place in the division.
The men’s team lacked the depth of the ladies but there were some excellent individual performances.
A back-to-form John McDonnell finished second in a field of 350, followed by Ian Kimber, showing good form before he runs the Frankfurt marathon later this month.
Pick of the Juniors was a fine third place by Luke King in the U15 boys race as followed by Ben Abubacker (sixth), Callum Gardner (eighth) and Michael Morony (31st) as the team placed third.
There were many good individual performances throughout notably from Leah Jay (seventh) and Euan Turner (ninth) in the U11 races, plus Antonio Khan (16th) and Elizabeth Bentham (20th) in the U13 and Georgia Nunn (19th) in the U15 girls race.
Luton finished sixth overall out of 14 teams in the league and the next fixture is at Keysoe, North Beds on November 8.
