Luton Town Ladies were beaten 4-0 in their first home Five Counties League Premier Division game of the season.

A competitive first half saw Walden lead 1-0, while in the second period, they scored three in quick succession to take an unassailable lead.

Luton were not without opportunities as Suzanne Starkey and Claire Philby were denied by the visiting keeper.

Defender Jean Limpitlaw was player of the match after a determined performance saw her put in several strong tackles.

The IIs were beaten 4-3 by Letchworth Vs in their Division Five clash.

After falling behind early on, Luton hit back twice through Taz Ferdouse to lead 2-1, only to concede a penalty stroke just before the break.

In the second half, Letchworth extended their advantage to 4-2, but Ferdouse completed her hat-trick to take joint player of the match alongside young defender Bethany Phelps.

Luton’s men continued their good start to the season with a 5-1 win over Berkhamsted IIs in East Men’s League Division 3 South West.

Cameron Sarrington put the hosts in front before setting up Carter Bright to make it 2-0.

A defensive error gifted Berkhamsted a way back but Luton regained the ascendancy in the second half, man of the match Sarrington and then Bright on target, although James Wallis was yellow carded.

Rob Shearer deflected a shot through the keeper’s legs for the fifth.

The IIs won 2-1 at Berkhamsted IIIs in Division 5 South West, while the IIIs fell to a 4-2 defeat at Luton Vagrants in Division 7 South West.

Town had the perfect start when captain Dean Pierce fired the ball across and Kyle Beirne netted. Keeper Thomas Briggs made some good stops, as Steven Pierce then found the net for Luton.

Vagrants pulled one back and in the second half added a further three to triumph, with Steven Pierce as MOM.

Emma Cook scored twice as Chiltern Ladies defeated Rickmansworth 2-1 in their Five Counties Premier League Division One clash.

After trailing 1-0 at the break, Cook had pulled one back and went on to seal victory with a superb strike.

The defence of Nicki Tiley, Carolyn Doherty, Ali Main with Kate Isger all held strong, to ensure a first win as player of the match was shared by Cook, O’Shea, Chapman and Tiley.

In Division Three, Chiltern IIs won 2-1 at Stevenage IVs thanks to a brace from Holly Steward.

Hayley Murphy, Vicky Spencer, Sarah Holmes, Karen Murphy and Libby Wright all impressed. Lauren House and Robyn Shiner ran the opposition ragged, while Fiona Deliver impressed on the wings.

Steward came off the bench with Bev Siddons and scored with two excellent finishes.

The IIIs drew 1-1 with Bedford VIs in a friendly. Gill Sentinella, Natalie Cook, Carly Grimmer and Lorraine Cherrill were all denied. After the break Chiltern went ahead through Becca Elias, although Bedford swiftly levelled.
