Hatters fan Rob Hadgraft looks back at Town's 12 biggest crises and decline since 1958
Hatters fan Rob Hadgraft is set to launch his labour of a love – a book charting Luton Town's 12 biggest crises – at Waterstone's.
The lifelong Luton fan will be launching his book, entitled Luton Town: Staring Into the Abyss, with current Hatters chairman Nick Owen, at the bookshop in George Street.
Hadgraft, 52, who used to live in Runfold Avenue before moving away in the 60s, said: "We started writing around the turn of the year when they went into administration.
"We've done it in about six to seven months. After the (David] Pinkney thing fell to pieces we decided to have a bash then."
The book traces Luton's history back to 1958 when the club briefly topped the league, but most of the crises highlighted are restricted to Town's more recent history.
He said: "We've gone into more detail recently because there's been more interest recently.
"We reckon there have been 12 crises that have put the club in jeopardy of folding.
"I think they are probably the most troubled club in the league and they've bounced back each time."
Hadgraft will launch the book, priced 14.99, on Saturday, September 27, between 11am and noon at Waterstone's, before Town's home league match against Chester.
