Ninth place for Gottfried
Richard Gottfried claimed ninth place at the BMGA British Doubles Championship on Sunday.
Richard Gottfried and partner Kevin Moseley claimed ninth place at the BMGA British Doubles Championship on Sunday.
At Boscombe Chine Gardens, Gottfried and Moseley won one, drew one and lost one of their round-robin group games which ruled them out of the chance to compete for one of the top eight places
In the knockout stage that followed, the pair beat Adrian Jukes & Katherine Marsh 2&1, Simon Locksley and Alan Marsh 3&2, and Brad Shepherd and Chris Jones at the second extra hole to finish ninth.
Gottfried said: "After the disappointment of finishing third in our group, Kevin and I knew we had to play well to win the second division of play-offs and we really did pick up our game.
"At the end of the tournament we had a record of four wins, a draw and only one loss, so it's a shame to have only finished ninth, but we didn't win enough in the round robin so it was the best we could hope to achieve in the end.
Next month, Gottfried will be competing in the Midland Open in Stratford-upon-Avon.
