Physio calls out for helping hands

Hatters shorts

Volunteers are needed by Hatters physiotherapist Harry Scott-Stackman to help him in the club's pre-season programme.

With a demanding pre-season programme in store for Luton Town's stars, Scott-Stackman wants to get them in the best possible shape when they return from their holidays today.

He said: "It's going to be a hard pre-season for the players.

"With that in mind, I'm looking for individuals with the right qualifications, and an interest in helping the players to get in touch.

"The squad will not only face intensive training but friendly matches as well and we're looking for volunteers to assist the players in their recuperation afterwards in preparation for the coming season.

"Sports pilates is a new concept we're introducing and something AC Milan have trialled with David Beckham amongst its enthusiasts."

Scott-Stackman is appealing for fully-qualified masseurs and sports pilates/sports yoga instructors to assist him in a voluntary capacity until the season starts on Saturday, August 8.

All interested candidates should be fully-qualified and insured, and preferably have one or two years experience working in sport.

Former winger is immortalised

Former Luton Town winger Stewart Imlach has had a new housing development in his home town named after him.

The 2million, 22-home development, in Lossiemouth has been named Imlach Way after the player, who died in 2001 at the age of 69

He played four times for Scotland, including two appearances at the 1958 World Cup in Sweden, as well as for Bury, Derby County, Nottingham Forest, Coventry City and Crystal Palace.

His widow Joan, who handed over the keys to the new tenants, said: "It is a very emotional day. Stewart would have been over the moon about this.

"He was very proud of Lossiemouth and the people.

"It was always home to him and like a second home to me."
