Podium finish for junior men

Luton AC girls just miss out on a medal

Luton AC's junior men earned third place at the National Relays in Mansfield on Saturday.

The trio of Daniel Woodgate, Daniel Clorley and John McDonnell entered the event with high expectations and they didn't disappoint.

Woodgate finished the first leg in a solid 35th place after covering the 3km course in 9.47mins and this was improved by 22 places to 13th following McDonnell's effort of 9.09mins.

The experienced Clorley then produced an excellent run of 8.47mins on the anchor leg to move the team up another 10 places to the bronze medal position.

The U15 girls, pictured above, narrowly missed out on a podium place as they finished in a creditable fourth.

Revee-Walcott Nolan was ninth in 7.24mins after the first leg of the 2km course, a position that was improved to fourth by Ellie Still who recorded a time of 7.33mins.

Sophie Billington ran the third leg and, despite a gallant performance, narrowly failed to catch Kingston Upon Hull.

The senior men's quartet of Nathaniel Quigley, 16.09mins, Liam McNabola, 17.53mins, Stuart Still, 18.28mins, and Andy Johnson, 18.54mins, were a respectable 69th in a 170-strong field over a 5km distance.
