Rovers and Blues lose out

Dunstable still searching for their first win

Barton Rovers suffered their first defeat of pre-season as they went down 2-0 against Ware at a rain-lashed Wodson Park on Tuesday night.

After a goalless first half, the hosts opened the scoring in the 56th minute when the ball was prodded home from close range in a crowded box. They grabbed their second seven minutes later with an exquisite shot from the corner of the box that curled into the far corner.

Rovers round-off their pre-season campaign on Saturday when near neighbours Bedford Town visit Sharpenhoe Road, kick-off 3pm.

Dunstable Town, meanwhile, produced a vastly improved performance in their friendly game with Hemel Hempstead Town at Creasey Park in midweek, but it wasn't enough to stop them from slipping to a narrow 2-1 defeat. The game marked the return of former favourite Chris Marsh to his old stomping ground, the visitors taking the lead on 35 minutes through Chris Dillon.

Striker Dillion increased The Tudors' lead after the break with an unstoppable header, before Blues youngster Terry Billy got his side on the scoresheet late on. Lee Cowley's young guns, who are still without a win from their pre-season fixtures, visit AFC Hayes on Saturday
