Dees suffer home defeat to Oundle

The visitors went ahead early on as Craig Tandy sprinted over the line and then converted his own effort.

Dees responded through Toby Mead’s try, while they then went ahead when top score Luke Ashton dotted down, Kevin Boland’s conversion making it 12-7.

The away side were back in contention when Toby Snelling kicked a pebnalty but Dees furthered their advantage before half time.

Boland outpaced his markers to score an excellent solo try, running the whole length of the pitch, while he also added the extras to make it 19-10 at the break.

In the second period, Oundle scored first as Saad Salt went over, as Snelling converted to make it 19-17.

Dees extended their lead once more through Boland’s penalty as his side moved five points ahead.

Oundle reduced the deficit once more though the boot of Snelling and had the lead as Rob Shingles crossed the line putting the visitors 25-22 in front.

Boland levelled proceedings with a penalty kick, going into the final five minutes, as the hosts then missed a drop goal attempt.

The draw was snatched away from Dees in the final minute, after a breakaway try from Nick Bates sealed the victory.

Dunstablians are at home to Old Leamingtons in the cup this week.
