Both sides participated in a minute of applause at the beginning of the match as a mark of respect for Lutonian Mark Davey who died tragically last weekend.

It appeared the visitors were still affected by the weeks’ events, as the Vikings David Treglown scored a penalty.

Luton tried to settle in the match as in the 13th minute, Luton had their best passage of play when Tesh Edwards and Chris Davis connected brilliantly, but could not find their way to the try-line.

They would rue their missed chance as Treglown converted a penalty to make it 6-0 on 18 minutes.

Luton’s Rick Hobbs responded with a penalty of his own, only for Treglown to swiftly add another.

The Viking’s domination was asserted in the 29th minute with Ryan Oakes going over and Treglown converting to make it 16-3.

Following several scrappy scrums, Walsham’s Jacques Oliver went to the sin-bin and Hobbs kicked the penalty.

In the second period, it took just a minute for Luton flanker Adam Harris to cross the line following a powerful period of play from Edwards as Luton trailed 16-11.

However, four minutes later, the Vikings increased their lead through a try from Ryan Oakes and Treglown’s conversion.

They showed their ruthless streak once again as Van der Vveren went over and Treglown made it 30-11.

It got worse for Paul Allen’s side in the 56th minute as Adam Harris was sin-binned due to repeated infringements.

Two minutes later, the Viking’s Van der vern followed him for a nasty tackle on Luton captain Tom Mahendran.

Just past the hour mark, Mahendran went over, but Luton’s Tom Albone was carried off with a suspected broken hand and Olivier crossed the line, with Treglown’s extras completing a 37-16 victory.
