Luton RFC lose to Manor but Hobbs confirms return

Luton RFC’s Jake Hobbs has confirmed he is planning a return to Newlands Road next season.

The 25-year-old has not played rugby since tearing his anterior cruciate ligament in the East Midlands Cup against the Peterborough Lions over a year ago.

However, he said: “I won’t be coming back this year but I should be back for next year.

“I had ACL reconstruction so I won’t be back until pre-season.”

Hobbs played for Luton RFC last season and helped the club secure a top four finish and reach the East Midlands Cup final.

He left to join Ampthill, but following surgery, has had to sit out the entire 2014/15 campaign.

Hobbs hopes to be running within the coming months as he continued: “It’s feeling all right, I’ve pretty much got full mobility back in it now.

“I just need to strengthen my leg back up again.”

The full back says he hopes the club can effectively replace director of sport Paul Allen, who is leaving the club at the end of the season.

Hobbs added: “As long as the club can get someone in we can continue moving forward.

“We probably missed out on our best chance to be promoted last season and this year we’ve had a lot of injuries but he’s done well with the players we have.

“As long as we get someone in soon for next season we’ll be fine because when this happens you can lose players.”

Meanwhile, Luton were thrashed 32-0 by second placed Eton Manor in London One North at the weekend.

This weekend, Luton travel to Brentwood.
